Location & history
Historic neighborhood of Alicante, located south of the city. It limits to the north with the Alipark neighborhood and to the south with Ensanche-Diputación. Its natural limits are Avenida Aguilera and Óscar Esplá. According to the 2019 census, the population is 9,279 people, of which 15.56% are foreign.
Although, Roman Republican and Arab archaeological remains have been found, the permanent occupation of the neighborhood began in 1884 with the Society of Ten Friends, which built 208 homes, receiving the name of its honorary president, the Marquis of Benalúa.

Connection with the beach and downtown
It is located next to the port, a 15-minute walk from the Panoramis Shopping Center, which sits on the Alicante sea itself.
Postiguet beach is 30 minutes-walking away. But of course you can pick the bus or the car to be there in 5 ot ten minutes. Bus line 02 will leave you on the beach without having to park. You can also comfortably go to the beaches of San Juan getting off at Plaza de Luceros and taking the tram towards San Juan or Campello.
Regarding its position with respect to the city center, just cross Avenida Oscar Esplá to find the Corte Inglés and Maissonave.
From its original planning, the neighborhood was conceived as a functional space, with an orthogonal plan. It has an important green area, Plaza Navarro Rodrigo, the central axis of the neighborhood. They stand out for their concentration of shops Avenida de Aguilera and Avenida Óscar Esplá.
It has all the necessary services (supermarkets, close malls, as Panoramis or Corte Inglés, gyms, schools).
Connection to the center and the beach with lines 03, 04, 07 and 02.
If you like products sold directly from the field, on Thursdays and Saturdays you can find the Benalúa market open along its streets.
